Inspiration for the geometric abstractions comes mainly from a passion for typography and architecture. Paintings are referring to Cubism, Constructivism, Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism and Modernism as a wider issue. Various aspects and assumptions of these historical art movements are combined with selected and reconstructed elements of contemporary reality.
Abstract forms derived from shapes found in both typography and architecture are then reinterpreted in a playful and expressive way. Flat geometric shapes are layered and interpenetrate each other. This process creates new, more complex structures and gives the works a unique depth, inviting the viewer to discover and appreciate the interplay of individual layers.
Use of acrylic paint with the addition of glazing medium enhance a sense of depth and movement. The paint is not completely opaque. Differences in pigment saturation visible on the paintings result from the overlapping of several layers of translucent paint.
Precisely defined form is combined with a naturally imperfect, this form creating and filling structure. It is essential to maintain a balance between geometric precision and imperfection of the textures.
Overall, geometric abstractions showcase the artist's passion for observing and reinterpreting the world around us. Simple components build a complex whole, an ambiguous depth. His works are a testament to the power of art to capture the essence of the world around us in an unobvious way.
