Painting as a structure

My practice explores painting as a modular structure built through translucent layers.
Works function both as autonomous objects and as adaptable systems responding to space.
Infinity
A modular painting project based on the principle of openness and variability.
The core is a series of individual paintings, autonomous units, that can be combined into larger arrangements, resembling a mosaic or a system of tiles. The composition has no final version: it can be expanded and reconfigured depending on the space.
The project refers to an architectural context - particularly to the tradition of azulejos, present in Portuguese public space.
Variables
In the Variables I work with a limited set of forms treated as elements of a system.
The paintings are created in small series. Each series is a variation on coherent structures - the relationships between the shapes, their scale, arrangement or the color palette change.
I am interested in the moment when even a minimal alteration leads to the emergence of a new, autonomous composition.
Constelations
Large scale modular compositions
The unified compositions built from smaller canvases. Though divided, the structure allows only one possible configuration.
The modular division remains visible. Fragmentation becomes a method of building unity.
Formas e camadas - Série de gravuras
Formas e camadas were created as an autonomous series of prints, while at the same time functioning as a map of my painting practice.
The works reveal the structure of the paintings - individual forms, layers and relationships that, in painting, become condensed and multiplied. Here, printmaking acts as a kind of instruction or record of the process, allowing the viewer to trace the mechanics behind the creation of the paintings.
